Tomato Ketchup was once sold as a medicine in the United States. (In the 1830's it was sold as Dr. Miles Compound Extract of Tomato. H. J. Heinz proclaimed his ketchup as a health food too, and having learnt more about the chemical compounds in the humble tomato, maybe they were right.)
