According to the Halifax bank, the average Brit believes they have £1.61 lurking down the back of their sofa. (This means home owners are sitting on more than £40 million in loose change.  And that's not the only place you'll find a few pennies lying around: Two-thirds of people admit to regularly finding loose coins in pockets, bags and cars, but desk drawers usually contain the largest amount of cash. On average, people believe they have £17.69 just lying around the UK. Can you guess what I'm going to do now?)

According to a poll commissioned by UK law firm Slater & Gordon, 60% of women have had to ward off an unwanted advance from a colleague. (Almost a quarter of female workers have had a more senior member of staff make a pass at them, but only 27 per cent of victims have reported the matter to their boss. The most common places for harassment are at the desk when working a late shift, in a lift or staff corridor, and of course at the office party. In my case it was my boss, at the office party.  I won't tell you what I did, but he didn't do it again.  That said soon after I left the company.) 

On 2.5cm2 of your office desk there are 20,961 germs compared with 49 on the same area of a typical toilet seat. (The joy of WiFi is that I can ask you whether you are sitting at your desk now, or if are you surfing on the loo?)
