The poor old UK is suffering, Britain is officially colder than Siberia as temperatures plummet to a bone-chilling -12°. (It's actually too cold to grit the roads!)

Interesting Fact - Viruses
An ancient virus, which was found frozen in a deep layer of the Siberian permafrost has come back to "life". (It is thought to have lain dormant for at least 30,000 years, but after it thawed it became infectious once again. At 1.5 micrometres in length, it is the biggest virus that has ever been found. Luckily it poses no threat to humans or animals. It attacks amoebas, the big bully. I say "life" in quotes because of course, viruses aren't actually alive .)
Interesting Food - Rhubarb
Rhubarb, that classic fruit dreaded by English schoolchildren, was introduced to Britain from Siberia. (Actually rhubarb is an interesting word too: Actors with a ‘non-speaking’ role might be asked to ‘pretend’ to be speaking, in order to get a natural feeling. Traditionally, this involved saying ‘rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb’.)
