Interesting Fact - Health

According to Scottish charity Action on Hearing Loss (AHL) Scotland, thousands of young people are risking irreversible hearing loss by failing to turn down the volume on their iPods and MP3 players. (Many people, especially youngsters, listen to music for up to one third of their waking day, but any noise over 85 decibels can be harmful. The built-in limit to iPods is around 100dB but many people have found ways to override it. The problem is, it's a bit like smoking; the damage is a gradual process, which means that it sneaks up on people and is only noticed when it is too late. So, here's your chance to learn phrasal verbs by doing: Turn it down.)

Interesting Fact - Law

Laws in the UK that make it illegal to rip (copy) content from CDs and DVDs onto computers, iPods, iPads and other devices are set to be scrapped. (Millions of people routinely transfer music and films they have bought on CD and DVD onto such devices for personal use, but under current copyright rules, this copying, or ‘format shifting’, is technically illegal. The music industry has accepted the proposals, but has suggested that some companies and artists should be compensated for any income lost as a result of copying through a levy applied to the price of iPods and similar devices, or CDs, DVDs and downloads. Show me the money! They cried. Well I would like to be compensated for my husband having to buy CDs of LPs and Tapes he had already bought.) Source

Interesting Fact # 752 - iPods

powered by ODEO The world's most expensive iPod has gone up for sale at a charity auction in London. (Supposedly an iPod is a must-have item, and this bejewelled version has an estimated value of £20,000. The iDiamond shuffle (yes, they really called it that) is made of solid 18 carat white and pink gold and kitted out with 430 diamonds. Tasteful.) Source ITN
